―基于CLEC语料库中because的个案研究

提要:语域知识的习得是学生写作能力发展过程中的一大难点,本文通过对because的个案研究及其教学流程探讨如何结合数据驱动学习模式在作文课堂教学中加以有效传授语域知识。because是显性因果关系标记之一,其口语用法经常体现出话语标记的特点;中国学生受发展性因素和汉语负迁移的影响,过分依赖于because的运用且表现出明显的口语化现象与偏离学术语篇because运用的常规。通过引导学生索引相关语料库并分析其语料,鼓励他们主动‘发现’语言规则,最终提高语言习得效果。

Abstract: The learning of register knowledge has always been an obstacle in the development of students’ writing ability. This paper addresses the utilization of data-driven learning in the efficient instruction of register knowledge in English composition pedagogy via a case study of because. As an overt causal marker in English, ‘because’ often displays characteristics of discourse marker when used in colloquial situations; Chinese learners tend to have an overuse of ‘because’ in their writing, among which colloquialism stands out and generic features of academic writing see frequent violation, attributed to developmental errors and the negative transfer of the mother tongue. Guidance is provided to help students retrieve concordancing lines from appropriate corpora, discover facts about the language from authentic examples, and consequently enhance their learning
