How to use Xaira step by step?

i have downloaded 3 components of LCMC, CHARACTER, MANNUAL, INDEX.
if i want to use them in my research, what to do next?
 
for example, how to make a concordance on my computer? how to search a keyword "说” and display its context?
 
1) Unzip index.zip to your drive C (C:\) while keep the folder structure. Make sure the root is C:\LCMC. In this directory, you will have some files and subdirectories such as "index", "etc" and "texts".

2) Download Xaira Release 1.13 here
http://www.ling.lancs.ac.uk/corplang/data/SetupXaira.msi

3) Install Xaira

4) Open LCMC.xcorpus using Xaira Client

5) Select Word query, type in "shuo", and you get there.
 
han, i changed your original title to the present one to make it more transparent, thereby benefitting more visitors. sorry for not telling you before hand.

msi file is for Windows installation, gz is for Linux and Unix environment.
 
Xaira.1.13.ta.gz is a zipped archive of source codes of Xaira to be compiled for use on all systems, not just Windows, but also Unix/Linux/Mac.
 
i have downloaded the Xairasetup.msi this morning very fast, at a speed of more than 200 k /s. i suggest that everyone download sth from foreign website in the early moring . if you happen to download in the daytime, you should be very very patient.

i failed to download it in the first time because i had thought it was a domestic website.
i have a suggestion that if the website is a foreign one , will you tell us in advance. i think it will save much time and trouble. i believe some of us also use educational network just like me, not a telecom service. if you happen to use educational network, you need to set an agent, otherwise you can not log onto the foreign website.

LCMC.xcorpus is located in C:\LCMC if you have decompressed your index.zip correctly on your machine. Only the filename LCMC is shown but not the extension xcorpus.

Most probably this error message appears because you have not kept the original folder structure when unzipping the archive. Please make sure you have not unzipped index.zip into C:\LCMC, which results in the corpus root directing being C:\LCMC\LCMC.

The folder structure should look like this (if you have not run Cilent, then serverbootlog will not appear):

first, i unzip index.zip to c:/. then i got a folder "index" which contains another folder "LCMC". second, i copied the folder "LCMC" into c:/ . third, i open folder "LCMC" which contains the following files. have a look! what is wrong with my procedure.

Right. The files are folders are correct. Please ensure that LCMC is directly on your C drive. i.e. C:\LCMC. (LCMC should not be in the "index" folder)

If the problem remains, please open the file corpus_parameters.xml with WordPad, and copy and paste its contents in your reply.

i am sure i put correctly the folder LCMC in the right place (c:\). have a look.
