I came across 'multal quantifier and paucal quantifier" in Quirk (1985:384)'s book, however, there is no clear introduction about them. What are exactly these two categories of quantifiers and the differences?

I expect some experts can say sth. about it here.

Much thanks.

Paucal quantifiers in the present investigation are defined as non-numerical quantifying expressions that refer to small quantities. The quantifiers under investigation are: a few, few, a bit, a little bit, little, a little, and several. Paucal quantifiers are contrasted to multal quantifiers, which refer to large quantities, e.g. a lot, many, and much.
